Frederick blends historic small-town blocks with rapidly expanding new neighborhoods on open prairie. That combination keeps pest pressure varied and consistent — and ExtermiSafe handles it locally.
Older homes in historic Frederick have entry points that change with every freeze-thaw cycle. New construction on the edges of town keeps mice, voles, and spiders moving toward foundations. Surrounding ag land sustains field-pest populations regardless of season.
Get a Free QuoteFrederick service calls typically involve mice, spiders, wasps, ants, and box elder bugs.
Frederick's newer subdivisions were built directly on former Weld County farmland, and mice that once lived in crop fields now move into foundations as harvests end and temperatures drop. Freeze-thaw cycles in the semi-arid Front Range climate open small gaps in slab edges and crawl spaces that mice exploit easily. Once inside, they nest in insulation and wall voids throughout the winter months.

Voles thrive in the grassy field edges and irrigation ditch corridors that border many Frederick neighborhoods. As open prairie is converted to new subdivisions, displaced vole populations push into lawns and landscaping, girdling young trees and damaging turf root systems. Weld County's agricultural surroundings sustain large vole populations year-round, keeping pressure on residential properties at the subdivision edges.

Pavement ants and odorous house ants are a persistent nuisance in Frederick, nesting beneath the concrete slabs and driveways common in newer construction. The semi-arid Front Range climate drives ants indoors in search of moisture, especially during dry summer stretches. Irrigation systems in newer subdivisions create the moist soil conditions that support large underground colonies close to foundations.

Carpenter ants follow moisture damage, and Frederick's freeze-thaw cycles cause repeated expansion and contraction in wood framing that can trap moisture and invite infestations. Newer homes in developments like Wyndham Hill and The Trails at Crist Farms sometimes have landscaping timbers and mulch beds placed directly against foundations — ideal harborage for carpenter ant satellite colonies. Left unchecked, they tunnel through structural wood and can cause significant damage.

Frederick's open prairie and agricultural surroundings support large insect populations that in turn sustain high spider densities. Spiders move indoors as temperatures fall in autumn, entering through the gaps and settling cracks common in newer construction. Irrigation ditches and field edges near residential areas provide ideal outdoor habitat, keeping spider pressure elevated throughout the warm season.

Black widow spiders are well established across Weld County and are regularly found in Frederick garages, window wells, and utility boxes. The semi-arid climate and rocky or gravelly soil common in newer subdivision landscaping provide exactly the sheltered, undisturbed spots black widows prefer. Homeowners near field edges and open lots should inspect outdoor furniture, hose reels, and storage areas regularly.

Yellow jacket wasps nest aggressively in the ground — a behavior that makes Frederick's former farmland soils, with their loose, disturbed fill common in new construction, especially attractive. Colonies peak in late summer just as outdoor activity is highest, and nests near irrigation lines or landscaping beds can go unnoticed until disturbed. The abundance of insects on surrounding ag land provides ample food to support large colonies close to homes.

Box elder trees grow along irrigation ditches and drainage corridors throughout Frederick and Weld County, and the bugs that feed on them congregate on south-facing walls of homes by the thousands each fall. Newer homes with light-colored stucco or vinyl siding are particularly attractive as heat-absorbing overwintering sites. Once temperatures drop, box elder bugs push through gaps around windows and doors to shelter inside walls.

Clover mites explode in population during Frederick's cool spring and fall periods, especially in lawns that border open fields or are heavily fertilized. The semi-arid Front Range climate produces the dry, sunny conditions that trigger mass migrations from turf into homes through window frames and foundation cracks. Newer subdivisions with freshly seeded lawns and abundant clover in turf mixes are especially prone to large clover mite invasions.

Earwigs thrive in the moist soil around irrigation systems and mulched landscaping beds that are standard in Frederick's newer subdivisions. They shelter under landscape timbers, stepping stones, and debris during the day and move indoors through foundation gaps at night. The combination of irrigated lawns adjacent to dry open prairie creates the moisture gradient that draws earwigs toward homes throughout the summer.

Subterranean termites are active in Weld County soils and pose a real risk to Frederick homes, particularly in newer construction where wood debris left in backfill soil during grading provides an initial food source. The semi-arid climate does not eliminate termite pressure — irrigation keeps soil moisture levels high enough for colonies to thrive beneath slabs and foundations. Homes built on former agricultural land with organic-rich soil are at elevated risk.

Fleas are a consistent problem in Frederick because the surrounding agricultural land and open prairie support large populations of rabbits, prairie dogs, and other wildlife that carry them into residential yards. Pets that roam near field edges or irrigation ditch corridors pick up fleas quickly, and infestations can establish indoors within days. The warm summers and mild shoulder seasons on the Front Range allow flea populations to remain active for an extended portion of the year.

Yes — Frederick is inside our regular service area, and we cover the surrounding North Denver metro as well. If you want to confirm your exact address is on the route, check your ZIP on our service area page or just call and ask.
It depends on the pest, the size of the property, and how far along the problem is — a single wasp nest and a recurring mouse problem are not the same job. We quote it free, in writing, before any work starts, and there is no contract to sign.
Safety is the reason we work Integrated Pest Management first: we find and remove what is attracting the pest, seal the way in, and use the most targeted, lowest-impact product that will actually solve it — instead of blanket-spraying a house. Your technician tells you exactly what was applied and when it is dry.
We come back and re-treat at no extra charge. Our work is warranty-backed, so a pest returning between scheduled visits is our problem to fix, not a new invoice.
No. There is no term contract and no cancellation penalty. Most Frederick customers stay on a recurring plan because it keeps pressure off the house year-round, but you can stop any time.
Yes — ExtermiSafe is licensed and insured in Colorado, and we are locally owned and operated rather than a national franchise. The person who answers the phone is the same company that shows up.
Brandon. was awesome and discreet. Took care of my problem in one visit and followed-up to be sure treatments worked. Highly recommend.

Got lucky with Google and struck gold with this company. Brandon is a great guy who provides excellent service. He answered all my questions. I was a little skeptical about pest and bug service but it really did make a huge difference for our house and yards.

I cannot say enough amazing things about this exterminator. We had a massive bee issue that was stressing us out, and they handled it with absolute mastery. They arrived on time, explained everything clearly, and worked with such confidence that I instantly felt at ease. Brandan was punctual, helpful, and professional. We did not succeed in finding a nest of Yellowjackets, but if there was a nest close by, Brandan would have found it! I will not hesitate to call him back if I find more dependable evidence of a nest. I have no problem, referring him to others. Cameron-k

Had a great experience with ExtermiSafe Pest Control. Brandon came out to take care of a spider problem we were having and treated around the house to help keep spiders and other pests from making their way inside as the weather starts getting colder. Brandon was professional, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain what he was doing and why. The whole process was easy and straightforward, and I really appreciated how thorough he was. Definitely nice having the peace of mind knowing the house is treated before the colder weather hits. I would absolutely recommend ExtermiSafe Pest Control and Brandon to anyone looking for reliable pest control service!

Great service!!! Very thorough!!!
Brandon is awesome at his job. I had him come to a rental home after a furnace technician saw black widow spiders in the crawl space. He was very thorough in inspecting the inside of the house, the yard and the crawl space. He found 6 black widow spiders and 2 active wasp nests. He also identified how they were getting into the crawl space. Brandon was very efficient completing all this in about an hour. And he is very personable and pleasant to work with. Lastly his fees are very reasonable and the billing software that he uses is very easy to use to pay bills. Brandon was a joy to work with throughout the whole process from initial contact to remediation to billing. I highly recommend him
Brandon reached out to my inbox when I inquired nextdoor for recommendations for hornet's nest removal. Gave me a price and availability. We agreed on a time, he notified me when he was on his way. Super friendly and professional. Had all the equipment needed and got the job done. Would call up Brandon again no hesitation for any job I need done again.

Home was full of spiders and cob webs etc. They treated my outer perimeter and garage. Have not seen any come back. You can tell they genuinely care about the customer and they did not try upsell me. Will definitely hire again.
